friendly reminder that ros’s death was needlessly sexualized and only happened because “joffrey and littlefinger are bad people” had to be pointed out to everyone… again
#god yes thank you #needlessly sexualized #it was there so we could have grusome bloody boobs in the background of a scene where we watch one man stroll across the room #and listen to another man go on a monologue about who even cares what #this woman was a character and they turned her into a prop #an object #and if i hear ONE MORE PERSON tell me it’s okay because they need to show hard things are for women in this world #don’t even fucking start with that shit again? #there was no need for that shot to be so graphic and gruesome #no need but to give us more torture porn to add to that scene in second season #how the fuck could they think it was okay? #how? #game of thrones #game of thrones spoilers#got #got for ts #got spoilers
i just want to love and enjoy doctor who again. i want the thrill and excitement and anticipation of a new episode and getting excited to go on a journey with the companions and see a distant planet and learn that ordinary is extraordinary
what i dont want is to learn that if a man comes and talks to me when i am between the ages of 8 and 11, i should pine after him to the detriment of my own personal life and relationships and when he comes a knocking in his blue box because our time lines are ~interconnected~ i have to mack on him because yay my life is now complete and my kickass self can emerge with the assistance of a time lord
that storyline is relatable to none and no one wants to feel like we have to wait for the doctor to be kickass. you’re supposed to show me that i am already special, i’m already awesome. you’re not supposed to make me awesome, you’re supposed to give me the opportunity to show myself what i already am.
i miss being rose tyler—flawed shop girl and compassionate and brave beyond measure. i miss being martha jones—neglected and ignored but determined to be fucking kick ass and a world savior and a med student. i miss being donna noble—self esteem issues through the roof but finding a voice that’s worth listening to. i miss being mickey smith—insecure and terrified but finding strength in unusual circumstances and developing past those insecurities. i miss wilfred mott—aging and feeling too old for this world but finding youth in adventure and a purpose in life.
i miss my doctor who and i want it fucking back
i debated on making something like this bc it is triggering but since so many in this fandom still think mary wasn’t raped, and this is something i feel VERY STRONGLY about i decided to do this. i know it still won’t settle the debate (ffs it shouldn’t even be a debate) for some very closeminded people but i hope it’ll help some to understand that mary was raped. she was raped. she did not give her consent willingly. when she was asked cora if she was forced, she said no because she was not forced in the way she understood force to be. she wasn’t PHYSICALLY forced but she was emotionally blackmailed, threatened into giving pamuk what he wanted. HE WOULD NOT HAVE LEFT THE ROOM WILLINGLY IF SHE DID NOT GIVE HIM WHAT HE WANTED. SHE WOULD BE FOUND WITH A MAN IN HER ROOM WITH NO EXPLANATIONS TO HOW HE ENDED UP THERE. mary was raped and it is my hope that this is eventually accepted as a fact and will no longer be debated in the future.

Bet no one in the media will fucking listen.
UGH I HATE WHEN PEOPLE USE “CHEESY” AS A CRITICISM
#I LIKE WHEN THINGS END WHEN PEOPLE HUG AND TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY LOVE EACH OTHER #WHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS THINK HAPPY AND SWEET THINGS ARE USELESS #I THINK WE COULD USE MORE OF THAT TBQH #I’M SORRY YOU HATE LOVE AND JOY #BUT JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING’S SIMPLE DOESN’T MEAN IT’S MEANINGLESS OR WITHOUT INSIGHT #THIS HAS BEEN A RANT #ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE HAPPINESS #THE END!!!
the cobwebs of my mind: baroquemirrors: Actually, you know what? I would like to take a moment…
Actually, you know what? I would like to take a moment to recognize Rob Tapert.
I see a lot of talk about Whedon’s female characters, but Rob’s creations rarely get talked about. Maybe it’s because he’s never identified it as an agenda, but his series always demonstrate a dedication to giving female characters equal depth and development to their male counterparts. Say what you like about the quality of Xena, Legend of the Seeker, and Spartacus, but it’s true for all of them. Their female characters on par with (if not more central than) their male characters. I know Xena gets discussed as an iconic female, but pretty much all of the major roles on X:WP were women. The two leads AND the two major villains, plus minor baddies and mythology figures, and they were all really well developed (Callisto is one of my favorite tv villains ever). Spartacus looks like a dudebro fantasty at first glance, but the women carry equal weight in most of the show’s plot lines. I know Rob gets blasted a lot in the xenadom because of the show’s finale, but if he didn’t adamantly believe that a show with a majority female cast could succeed it would never have been made. I think he has an understated but firm commitment to female representation on tv and I’d like to see him get more credit for it.
